Jewish children had been removed from German public schools in November 1938 and were restricted to Jewish schools only. The decree of 20 June 1942 ordered all Jewish schools to be closed at the end of the 1941/42 school year. From this date on, Jewish children could not be taught even by private teachers or by volunteers.
